Lower Wharfe Canoe club is a family orientated club that has been running for 11 years, with a base at Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool, and Bishopthorpe on the river Ouse. We host a large number of families who enjoy the sports of canoeing and kayaking, and have a wide range of members aged eight to nearly eighty! We are a friendly welcoming club that run many water and non-water based events that are well attended. The club has a large number of both adults and children who enjoy the sport and develop their skills onto faster moving water, and into high level competitions through the slalom section, with our most successful paddlers going on to compete for Great Britain at international events - 2012 here we come! The club is open to all abilities (as long as you can swim 25m) and it is a great place to come along and have a go at a new activity. |

This year saw the formation of the Lower Wharfe Canoe Club Polo team, who even given their lack of experience have come third division 3. This is a wonderfull achievement for such a young and inexperienced team, and hopefully an even better performance can be achieved next year with already being training planned for the next season. |

Our Club runs trips that are suitable for absolutle baginners to advanced whitewater kayakers. Some of these trips include the river Ouse through York; the river Derwent at Howsham Weir and the River Ure from Mickley to Sleningford which is a moving water trip. More advanced trips include the River Wharfe, Linton Locks on the River Ouse, the River Lune and many more. There is also a touring section of the club that run trips to the Lake District and Wales for longer paddles. In addition, we have very successful slalom section that enter competions throughout Great Britain and train once a week in York. The newly formed Polo section have had their first season in Division 3, and training for next season will soon begin. |
